Angry Birds Cartoon Debuts On TV And On-Demand This Weekend

Most of the population have wasted a few hours here or there on the hit game Angry Birds, and soon you can start watching instead of playing, as the long awaited “Angry Birds Toons” cartoon show is broadcasting on TV and streaming this weekend.

The Angry Birds app game made by Finnish mobile company Rovi, has been a worldwide sensation clocking up 1.7 billion downloads, and by downloading an app update gamers can have access to the TV show.

The 52 episodes of animated shorts can be watched on mobile devices where the game made it’s name, as well as network TV worldwide, Comcast Xfinity, selected Smart TV’s including Samsung, and via Roku set-top boxes.

Angry Birds toons can be seen on a number of channels across the globe including, Australian FOX8, JEI TV in Korea, SUPER RTL in Germany, ANTV in Indonesia, Indian Cartoon Network, MTV3 Juniori and MTV3 in Finland, Children’s Channel in Israel, 1+1 networks in Ukraine, Gulli and Canal J in France, TV2 in Norway, Canal 13 in Chile, and Gloob in Brazil. Activision.

Rovi said of the show, “We’ve long wanted to tell our fans the story of the Angry Birds and the Bad Piggies to introduce their personalities and their world in detail,” Rovio CEO Mikael Hed said in a statement. “Launching the channel, and partnering up with some of the best video-on-demand providers and TV networks, is an important milestone for us on our journey toward becoming a fully fledged entertainment powerhouse.”

The show begins on Saturday, and a new TV episode will be released every week. For mobile and on-demand streaming services, the show will be released a day later.
