HBO isn’t the only premium cable network with a stellar app, and while it gets all of the press these days, another app from Showtime is chomping at the bit to get some attention too. The app, called Showtime Anytime has just been updated, and if you love Showtime and its plethora of exciting and dramatic shows–it’s no doubt probably already installed on your phone.

The app has gone through a transformation every week since launch, as Showtime adds more movie and television content in an effort to simply give HBO and their HBO Go app a run for their money. Most of Showtime’s original series are here including Homeland, Dexter, Shameless, Weeds, House of Lies, Californication, and The Big C.
The app is available for both Android OS and Apple iOS devices, and allows users with an easy list-retrieval system to help them queue up their favorite shows for instant viewing anytime they like. Social media buttons have appeared in the latest update allowing users to share and discover their favorite shows with friends and family.
Another interesting feature of Showtime Anytime is the ability to stop watching video content on one device and then pick up where you left off on another. The only issue currently with the app is that unless you are an AT&T U-Verse or Verizon FiOS cable subscriber you are unable to use the app. This seems to severely limit the appeal of the app, however, Showtime is working on getting it cleared for other cable providers as soon as possible.
Like the HBO Go App you must have an active subscription to Showtime to use Showtime Anytime, and be a subscriber on one of the supported cable systems.
