On Thursday ABC News announced the release of their newest app, designed specifically for Microsoft’s brand new Windows 8–the highly anticipated operating system that has been built from the ground up to run on a multitude of devices like laptops, desktops, mobiles and the new Windows 8 Surface Tablet. The ABC News Windows 8 App will provide users with high-quality video, breaking news stories and exclusive interviews.

But the app is more than just a website–rather it is a definitive destination for users searching for breaking news or simply trying to stay informed on the hot topics today. Content is divvied up into several easy to consume categories, and organized in such a way that users can get all of the information they need whenever they want, wherever they are.
News is delivered in a succinct three-part editions, AM, Midday, and Evening. Users can simply navigate to each individual section to check out headlines and the news that pertains to them. AM edition provides more stories and articles, while the evening edition comes across more like the evening news–filled with videos and slideshows.

The last week has seen a number of TV apps released for Windows new operating system including popular pay streaming services, Netflix and Hulu Plus.
The new ABC News app takes full advantage of the Windows 8 operating system and the variety of devices it runs on. Breaking news alerts are provided directly into the Live Tiles feature displayed on the metro UI Start page, and of course those with touch-screen capable devices will find the ABC News app easier and more intuitive to use.
